È ormai noto a tutti che la foto vincitrice del concorso indetto da Nikon è un clamoroso FALSO.
La foto in questione è un’inquadratura eccezionale realizzata nella Chinatown di Singapore da Chay Yu Wei e che gli è valsa un premio per il concorso Nikon Capture: peccato sia solo frutto di un maldestro tentativo di fotoritocco.
Infatti, nonostante la scarsa qualità della foto pubblicata nella gallery Facebook di Nikon(dove ha ottenuto 32.000 like e 22.000 condivisioni), anche i meno attenti hanno potuto notare che c’è qualcosa di strano..
L’aereo perfettamente incastrato nella prospettiva della scala anti-incendio, infatti, è visibilmente circondato da un riquadro bianco. Un sospetto che diventa certezza quando si apre l’immagine in photoshop e si cambiano i livelli (in realtà i più attenti noteranno “il difetto” anche ad occhio nudo).
Grande (e comprensibile) imbarazzo per Nikon che, dopo ore di silenzio ha commentato l’accaduto proprio sotto il post nel quale aveva annunciato il vincitore scusandosi e annunciando nuove regole per il futuro. Qui il messaggio integrale:

NikonCaptures is a casual photography contest that focuses not on the devices or props you use, but on the imagination and creativity that each photographer exudes while capturing and sharing their images. We have taken in every feedback received, and we sincerely apologise for the oversight on our part. We are now in the process of carefully revisiting the contest’s rules and regulations, for the benefit of all our current NikonCaptures members. We will update everyone of the contest rules once we have revisited all of them.
At the same time, we welcome the funny and witty entries being shared in response to our recently awarded image. It’s with joy that we acknowledge that the global photography and image community is alive and thriving. We thank you for the numerous spontaneous contributions and encourage everyone to keep the imagination alive.
